I'm Joshua Obisanya — a social & content marketing specialist. Four years turning a brief into a finished, published asset myself: concept, filming, editing, copy, post. No handoffs.

Three briefs. Three different jobs to do.

Proof I can shoot and edit under real conditions, proof I can pitch a brand voice unprompted, and the campaign that shows the strategic thinking behind the camera.

ClubHouse Sydney Freelance · 2026–present

Instagram event content, shot from inside the crowd

Videography · Editing · Fast-turnaround delivery

The brief: candid, chaotic, joyful, never sterile — house-party energy inside a club, not a normal night out documented from the sidelines. I shot handheld on a Sony Handycam, working from inside the crowd, using the venue's own neon rather than a flash. I edited section by section in Filmora 15 on a one-week turnaround, cutting to black-and-white against the full-colour neon for a "you had to be there" contrast, and kept the grade dark enough that my white text overlays would sit cleanly on top.

The brief

I was asked to cover the crowd and the details that make ClubHouse different — the gaming setup, the framed pictures, lamps and signage — not just people on a dancefloor.

The read

The number that mattered most to me here was reach beyond ClubHouse's own following — a house-party recap's job is exposure, not engagement from people who already know the brand. 1,597 views against 830 followers told me most viewers were new eyes.

Client response

"Mate, so sooo good! I think you've got the vibe of the party perfectly and I think the general feel of it is spot on. Really really happy with how it looks!"

A product brief nobody asked for — Maple Sea Salt Espresso

Concept · Videography · Editing · Commercial rationale

I put this concept together myself and produced the video for a suggested new drink at Will & Co's Bondi coffee shop — built on the pour-and-layer technique, reset in Will & Co's own space, to prove sea salt can be a signature order for a beachside roaster. I made it to show my brand-voice thinking against a real Sydney business, not as commissioned or paid work.

The concept

20–30 sec vertical video: shots pulled and maple poured, foam built, coffee layered over ice, chocolate and bean garnish, lid and reveal — a recipe-reveal built for the scroll.

Why this format

I chose it because short-form recipe-reveal already outperforms static posts in specialty coffee, and matches how Will & Co's own audience discovers new drinks — long enough to build anticipation, short enough to hold attention to the reveal.

How I'd measure it
  • Views & completion rate — reach and watch-through
  • Saves & shares — real intent signal
  • "Where do I get it" comments — demand validation
  • In-store trial orders — the hard conversion metric
Why there's no hard CTA

This is built for a Gen Z / millennial audience — TikTok-native, Bondi coffee regulars, beach-goers — which is why there's no harder sell than the implicit one: are you beach ready? That's deliberate. This was never meant to be a high-fidelity production; the job was to build top-of-mind consideration that's interesting and relevant while staying true to Will & Co's own brand aesthetic. Setting it in Bondi itself anchors the drink back to that audience and that lifestyle — this is the coffee you grab on your way to the beach.

Premier Education UK Social Media Executive · 2021–2024

A 4-week PR campaign to close a 280-million-hour gap

Campaign planning · PR · Social strategy · Research

I spent three years owning day-to-day social for a UK-wide school sports provider — communicating brand pillars consistently to a dispersed audience of schools, parents and delivery staff, rather than chasing reach. My standout project was a self-designed PR campaign to get more young girls into male-dominated sports (football, rugby) at holiday camps, after I read a Sky-commissioned study showing boys aged 11–18 play 1.4 more hours of sport a week than girls.

Research

I benchmarked competitor accounts like Women in Sport UK, read published research on why girls drop out of sport earlier than boys, and built a communications plan before I wrote a single post.

Execution

I ran the always-on content schedule alongside the campaign, paired it with external PR activity, and attended the camps in person to see for myself whether attendance and participation actually shifted.

Alongside the role

I completed the Level 4 PR & Communications Assistant apprenticeship (ST0311, distinction) with Cambridge Marketing College during this position — PRCA membership eligible.

About

Camera in one hand, brand guidelines in the other.

I got into style the way a lot of my generation did — watching A$AP Rocky's Fashion Killa era on repeat around 2016, the SoundCloud-rap years bleeding into a genuine interest in Raf Simons, Supreme and the AWGE aesthetic. That eye for detail is the same one I now point at a client brief: what's the mood, what's the reference, what's the one shot that proves it landed.

I grew up playing football and athletics, so tracksuits and boots have been part of my wardrobe for as long as I can remember — which is also where the monochrome, sporty, function-first thread in my own style comes from, Skepta and grime-era UK sportswear as much as any runway.

Living in Sydney means more sun than not, which is why the sunglasses habit stuck — sleek, aerodynamic, a little futuristic. It's the same instinct at work whether I'm styling a look, filming a house party at 1am, or figuring out how a 30-second recipe video should end.

The paper trail

Same work, in CV form.

I got into marketing almost by accident — a marketing assistant role at my college while I was working through a business admin qualification — and left three years at Premier Education UK knowing how to take a brief from a boardroom idea to a published, on-brand post without needing four other people to sign off on it.

Since moving to Sydney I've kept that same instinct running freelance — shooting and editing event content for ClubHouse, working brand-side in retail, and building spec pitches like the Will & Co concept because waiting to be asked isn't really how I work. What I'm looking for now is a team where that whole skill set — camera, edit, copy, strategy — is the job, not four different people's job.
